5-Day highlights of Kyrgyzstan

Welcome to Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan!

It is advised to arrive the day before the tour starts, so that you will have plenty of time to acclimatise, rest after a day of traveling and stroll around the city a little, if you wish.

Day 0 Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Most international flights arrive in the very early morning, so today you can take the time to arrive, rest and explore Bishkek. The Highlights of Kyrgyzstan Tour officially starts tomorrow morning with a welcome meeting from your guide at the hotel where you’ll be introduced to the group and the team. There will be a briefing about the tour and room for questions. Your accommodation for tonight is included in the price.

Day 2. Bokonbaevo village

We return to the main road and drive to the biggest lake in Kyrgyzstan – Issyk Kul, which translates from Kyrgyz language as “hot lake”. The reason – this lake doesn’t freeze in winter. Today, we can see its magnificent colors and amazing surroundings.

On the way we will stop at Kyzyl Tuu village to get a glimpse on the yurts production – the families living in that village produce these nomadic houses for generations. We can also participate in a yurt building process.

After that we will continue our way to Bokonbaevo village to meet the eagle hunter, who will show and explain to us this ancient nomadic art of hunting with golden eagles.

Day 3. Skazka canyon – Kok Jayik valley

We continue driving along the south shore of Issyk Kul lake and will soon stop at Skazka (Fairytale) canyon, which offers a big variety of unusual landscapes and different colors of sand rock. Sometimes the rocks can be similar to different objects or animals, that is why people called this place a Fairytale.

Then we will go to Jeti Oguz red rock formation, a very beautiful place – a unique mix of red canyons and coniferous forests. A short walk to admire the nature (or an optional horse riding of 1-2 hours), then we go higher to the mountains to the valley called Kok Jayik, where we are going to stay at a yurt camp.

Today we return to the main road and drive to Karakol – the fourth biggest city in Kyrgyzstan and an administrative center of the Issyk Kul region. A visit to the highlights of the city – an old Orthodox Church made out of wood, and a Dungan Mosque made without using the nails.

We will have lunch at a restaurant in the village before  we hit the road along the north shore of Issyk Kul lake to Cholpon Ata town, a popular tourist destination for summer holidays, and a quiet place during low season.
